Item Info may be accessed from three menu items:
Each option will present the Item Info command option, allowing you access to Item Info.
Because many companies and industries have different needs, the system allows you to define the names of these fields and their attributes. These 8 fields flow through all inventory transactions starting with the Item Info Standards, which are defaulted into Purchases and Purchase Orders.
On many transaction forms and system screens the Item Info will be shown as a concatenated string comprised of Item Info fields specified.
By carefully setting up the Item Info you can specify what information prints on different forms and reports and whether the field names and attributes should be displayed or suppressed.
A special type of Item Info (Type=S) can be designated to seafood products which is used to open up specific fields of data related to fishing vessels, etc.
Note: There is hidden Item Info type named N for (N = none), therefore you cannot create another N type of Item Info category. This type does not appear on the list of created item info types within the Item Info screens, but is available from the F3 options key when you are specifying the Item Info on the Item master record. Use this 'N' type if you do not want to use Item Info attributes on that item,
Refer to Adding Item Info for information about setting up "Sell By" dates.
Using Item Info to control what prints on paperwork:
The power of using Item Info is that you can prepare paperwork with exactly the information you want to display for that item. When printed, the system will display the Item Info data using the following rules:
Note: You could also decide to show slot numbers only by suppressing the lot number on the form setup for the specific type paperwork.
Using Item Info to control which fields are used in Trace reporting:
Each item info attribute can be mapped or linked to a specific Trace item attribute when creating and reporting the Trace XML Import Trace Document. This option will only appear if activated in Interface Option . If active each item attribute can be set to include the field name, suppress the fields or not using and then mapped to the specific Trace product attribute See Trace Overview for more information.
The Trace source product attributes can be linked to one of the item info text or date fields, or prompt the user to enter the information at time of receiving the Purchase order. Any two or more can be assigned to each Item Info template. The default attributes used are Item and PO, The user can set the item info name, source and field length for each item info template. Vendor specific overrides can be created for each Vendor. Vendor item alias can be created by vendor by selecting the Item Aliases option or from Vendor Item Aliases.
